the idea
Drafting a clothing pattern is technical geometry: construction lines, darts, ease, seam allowances. Bobloc compresses all of it into sliders and prompts. Describe a garment or move a measurement, and the whole pattern redrafts itself in real time, with every dependent rule recalculated for you.
Under the hood is a full geometric drafting engine: measurements, design variables and drafting rules linked in a dependency graph, rendered live as vector geometry ready for cutting.
the problem
It is the step that stops talented designers from bringing their visions to life. Professional pattern software costs thousands and is built for experts. The manual craft takes years to learn. Small brands cannot compete without technical expertise they cannot afford.
Bobloc puts traditional drafting knowledge behind controls anyone can use.
the solution
Bobloc is built on a library of foundational garment blocks. Each one is defined by geometric drafting rules, body measurement variables and design variables. The sliders set those variables, so moving one redrafts the block and recalculates every rule that depends on it. Between the blocks and the range of each slider, any pattern becomes reproducible without drafting from scratch.
The output is live vector geometry, ready to export for industrial production and cutting.
where AI comes in
The whole system runs on a small set of sliders, which is exactly what a model can fill in. Give it a clothing image or a written brief and it sets the sliders for you, so a production-ready draft comes out of a photo. Every value stays editable by hand afterwards.
The same mechanism reads body measurements from images, which opens the long-term play: bespoke, made-to-measure production direct to consumer.
heritage
Bobloc grew out of Cadcut, a manufacturing pipeline built in 2022 with the luxury label Chez Vidalenc in Paris. The goal was to automate bespoke garment production, from body scan to finished piece.
Patterns were generated parametrically from the scan, cut on a laser bed and printed with UV-setting dyes, all in a single automated run. The engine behind Bobloc is the third generation of that work.
